immersed

A project focusing on how we are surrounded and controlled by life and, in turn, death. "Immersed" draws inspiration from Patti Smith's poetic works and the recurring themes that exist within them. Flora, jewels, marble and fine textiles are often adorned with detailed descriptions and are metaphorically likened to life and death itself, as mirrored by this visual depictions.

Each image acts as it's own metaphor - the object being a part of an aspect of ourselves as beings, immersed and surrounded by life and death, influencing our every decision, and our need to be in control of these things in order to keep away our anxieties. Our bodies, our loves, our posessions, our social status, our careers, our travels.
